This documentary was made during a large public demonstration that took place on 11 November 2017, in the context of socio-environmental conflict related to water issues in the “cerrado” region, on the western area of the State of Bahia, Brazil. The public demonstration was a protest against the perceived disregard from the authorities in the face of the exploitation of water by agribusinesses located in the region. The Brazilian “cerrado” is water rich, but the predatory water abstraction connected with agribusiness activities is drying many of the regions’ rivers, which prompts the rebellious and insurgent mobilization of the local population owing to the lack of intervention by the public authorities.
