Description

British Conservative politician and sixth Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) 1984-1988 Was born 6 June 1919 in London and passed away 9 July 2018 in Bledlow, Buckinghamshire, England. He was the son of Rupert Victor John Carington, Captain in the Grenadier Guards, and Sybil Marion Colville, lady-in-waiting to Mary, Princess Royal and Countess of Harewood. On 25 April 1942 Carrington married Iona Ellen McClean. They had two daughters and one son. Entry in IO BIO, Biographical Dictionary of Secretaries-General of International Organizations.
