Description

Polish microbiologist, Director of the League of Nations Health Organization 1921-1939 and initiator of the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) Was born 1 November 1881 in Warsaw, Poland and passed away 13 July 1965 in Chenu, France. He was the son of Aleksander Rajchman, editor of a musical and literary magazine, and Melania Amalia Hirszfeld, journalist. On 8 September 1904 he married Maria Klotylda Bojanczyk, medical student, with whom he had two daughters and one son.
