Description

British civil servant, first Executive Secretary of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) 1948-1965 and Director-General of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) 1965-1968 Was born 26 January 1913 in London, United Kingdom and died 27 January 1980 in Ferney-Voltaire, France. He was the son of Henry Wyndham White, barrister-at-law, and Helen Peppiatt. On 12 November 1947 he married Tina Gibson, American actress (professional name Tina Thayer), in New York City.
