Argentine diplomat and fifth Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS) 1975-1984 Washington Alejandro José Luis (known as Alejandro or Alex), Argentine diplomat and fifth Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS) 1975-1984, was born 9 March 1925 in Mendoza, Argentina. He is the son of Alejandro Orfila, lawyer and regional governor, and Angélica De Benito. In 1951 he married Jean d'Aprile. They have one daughter and three sons. The marriage was dissolved in 1975.
