Description

Norwegian politician and first Secretary-General of the United Nations 1946-1953 Was born 16 July 1896 in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway and passed away 30 December 1968 in Geilo, Norway. He was the son of Martin Lie, carpenter, and Hulda Otilie Arnesen, boarding house keeper. On 8 November 1921 he married Hjørdis Alette Frederikke Jørgensen, café owner. They had three daughters.
