Description
Brazilian international civil servant and third United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights 2002-2003 Was born 15 March 1948 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and was killed 19 August 2003 in an attack in Baghdad, Iraq. He was the son of Arnaldo Vieira de Mello, diplomat, and Gilda dos Santos. On 2 June 1973 he married Annie Personnaz, secretary, with whom he had two sons.
