Description
Dutch politician and third Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), 1961-1964 Was born 5 February 1897 in Winschoten, Netherlands and died 24 December 1979 in Wassenaar. He was the son of Uipko Obbo Stikker, stockbroker, and Ida Meursing. On 2 May 1922 he married Catharina Paulina van der Scheer. After the early death of one daughter and one son, they had two sons.
